Strata Wind Up/Sale
The amendments to the Strata Property Act in July 2016 allowed for an 80% vote of approval for the winding up of a Strata Corporation. Since its enactment, many Strata Corporations have taken steps to market their properties to determine the true value of their land. Only a few Strata have been approved to ‘Wind Up’ this way so far. Now that the precedent has been set, developers are shopping this new market aggressively. The race to bring ideal Strata properties to market is on.
Your Strata could be an ideal example. Many areas are growing in population and so are the number of new developments. Providing additional housing to address the housing shortage for working families is a priority for municipalities throughout the lower mainland. If handled carefully, by the right team, it can be a windfall for Strata owners.
